Incident Description: A local Kentucky contact was called by an individual reporting a possible chemical spill from a coal prep plant in the Clover Fork River, in Harlan County. The caller reported an odor and numerous dead fish and birds. We do not have any additional information, but are sending a contact to the location. If you have any additional information about this spill, please post or call AWW at 855-7WATERS. Update at 10 pm, 6/2: one news story with limited new information. Spill was of an unnamed chemical spilled at a Cumberland Coal Company prep plant. Update 9:00 am 6/3/2014: An additional news story states that the chemical spilled was " Flock — a high molecular weight flocculant of polyacrylamide type agent used as a clarification and filtration agent of river water, waste water and industrial water".
