Incident Description: On April 4th, a reported 55 gallons of a dust suppressing chemical was spilled at a BMM Inc. coal mine. The chemical entered a tributary of Peter Creek, which flows into the Tug Fork, then into the Big Sandy, upstream of a local drinking water intake. Residents were not notified of the spill for 2 weeks. Kentucky Division of Water stated that they did not take any water samples during the spill. The company is owned by KY state Rep. Keith Hall. Hall's coal companies have been cited for a pattern of violations. The exact location mapped still needs to be confirmed.
